How We Reached Goa from Delhi
We boarded a train from Delhi Hazrat Nizamuddin to Madgaon Junction, which took us through the lush green Konkan route—full of breathtaking landscapes, tunnels, and waterfalls. The journey itself felt like a mini adventure.
After reaching Madgaon, we hired a cab and reached Panjim, the capital city of Goa. Our hotel was conveniently located near the famous Sangham Movie Church (Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church), right in the heart of the city.
Day 1: Exploring Panjim & Calangute Beach
Panjim City – Where Old Meets New
We started our day by exploring Panjim, a city that beautifully blends Portuguese heritage with modern-day Goa. The colorful colonial-era buildings, peaceful churches, and local markets gave us the real Goan vibe. A walk around the Fontainhas Latin Quarter with its vibrant walls and old balconies was like walking through a postcard.
We also visited the Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church, famously featured in Bollywood movies. Its white façade standing tall over the city square made for a great photo stop.
Calangute Beach – The Queen of Beaches
By afternoon, we headed to Calangute Beach, around 30–40 minutes from Panjim. This beach is perfect if you love energy, people, and a wide range of activities. We enjoyed parasailing and a banana boat ride, then sat by a shack with cold coconut water and some spicy Goan prawn curry.
The beach is wide, clean, and buzzing with music, making it the ideal place to spend your first evening in Goa.
Day 2: Chapora Fort, Vagator Beach & Dona Paula Sunset
Chapora Fort – A View That Stays with You
On the second morning, we headed north to Chapora Fort. Made famous by the movie Dil Chahta Hai, this fort is a must-visit for its incredible sea view. After a short 10-minute trek, we reached the top—and the panoramic view of the Arabian Sea and Vagator Beach below was absolutely worth it.
It’s a peaceful place to just sit, take photos, and breathe in the sea breeze.
Vagator Beach – Red Cliffs & Serenity
After the fort, we walked down to Vagator Beach, which is known for its scenic red cliffs, soft white sand, and quieter vibe. It’s less crowded than other beaches, which makes it perfect for those who want to relax.
We spent time just lying on the sand, watching the waves, and sipping fresh lime soda. It’s one of the more underrated yet beautiful beaches in Goa.
Dona Paula – Romance & Sunset
In the evening, we visited Dona Paula, a small beach with a romantic legend attached to it. According to local stories, it’s named after a Portuguese woman who fell in love with a Goan fisherman. The viewpoint here gives you a wide-angle view of the merging rivers and the sea.
As the sun dipped into the ocean, the sky turned into shades of orange and purple—it was one of the most magical sunsets of our trip.
Day 3: Churches of Old Goa – A Glimpse into History
Basilica of Bom Jesus
Our last day was reserved for exploring Old Goa, about 30 minutes from Panjim. We started with the Basilica of Bom Jesus, one of the most iconic churches in India. It houses the preserved remains of St. Francis Xavier and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The interiors are grand, with intricate woodwork and peaceful vibes that make you pause and reflect.
Se Cathedral
Next, we visited the Se Cathedral, one of the largest churches in Asia. Its stunning architecture, Portuguese-style pillars, and peaceful surroundings made it a great place to relax and soak in some history.
Church of St. Cajetan
We also stopped by the Church of St. Cajetan, modeled after St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome. With its massive dome and baroque-style interiors, it stood out as one of the most impressive churches in Old Goa.
