Visiting the Andaman & Nicobar Islands in August? You might think it’s all rain and storms—but our off-season trip turned out to be a magical experience filled with quiet beaches, stunning views, and a double rainbow we’ll never forget.

How We Reached

We started our journey with an overnight connecting flight—Delhi to Kolkata to Port Blair. While we were prepared for delays due to rain, we were lucky that the skies were mostly clear. It was only raining when we landed in Kolkata but after half an hour of take off rain stopped and skies were mostly clear.

Day-1: Rain-Kissed Skies and Ross Island Charm

After we landed in Port Blair, we took auto to our hotel which was located at distance of 2.4 km then we checked in at Blue Bridge Homes, a peaceful hotel offering a serene view of Ross Island from the roof.

After a quick breakfast, we were ready to explore. Since it’s off-season, there were fewer tourists, and we could easily book a boat from Junglighat Jetty—directly on the spot. So, we took an auto to Junglighat Jetty and booked our boat (Tip: Don’t hesitate to bargain; prices are flexible in August!)

First Stop: Ross Island

The boat ride to Ross Island was breezy and beautiful. Once we arrived, the island welcomed us with colonial ruins, tall trees, and deer roaming freely. The peace and greenery made us forget the city’s rush instantly.

Second Stop: North Bay

By afternoon, the same boat took us to North Bay Island, famous for water activities. We tried snorkeling activity here, and trust us—it was unforgettable. Clear water, colourful corals, and calm instructors made it perfect even for beginners.

Food

Post-snorkeling, we had a delicious seafood lunch at a small beachside stall. Their chilli prawns are a must-try!

Sunset, Rain & A Double Rainbow

Around 4:30 PM, we boarded the boat back to Port Blair. And just when we thought the day couldn’t get better, it started raining in the middle of the sea—adding drama to our already dreamy day. As the rain stopped, a double rainbow appeared over the horizon.

It felt like nature’s reward for braving the monsoon season.
